O ano estava acabando já, eu estava pensando nos vídeos para Janeiro, e, enquanto relaxando em Araruama, eu vejo Aquaman na revista do Cascão.
Sim, para o número 44 das revistas da Turma da Mônica, personagens da DC participaram de estórias com o pessoal do Limoeiro.
E, a primeira coisa que devo dizer é que o roteiro é bom,... para Turma da Mônica. Algumas estórias, no passado, me fizeram pensar que essas revistas contavam um pouco demais com seus leitores serem crianças e não conhecerem muito do mundo... Ironicamente, quase sempre fazendo referências como se esperassem que eles conhecessem. Sei lá, é meio doido. Mas, nestas revistas, os roteiros são de razoável a ótimo.
Ainda existem alguns momentos confusos. Por exemplo, a capa da revistinha do Chico Bento mostrando Clark Kent fazendo a pose do (Retorno do) Cavaleiro das Trevas, onde ele é essencialmente um vilão. Mas, com uma galinha em vez de uma águia... Então, a intenção é dizer que ele continua o símbolo mesmo estando na roça? Provavelmente, mas ele ainda era um vilão naquela estória. Ele era o cara que não estava seguindo seus princípios para fazer o que o governo queria contra o cara que conseguiu manter sua cidade apesar do caos que destruiu as demais.
Mas, apesar desses detalhes, as revistas são muito divertidas. Comecemos com Aquaman interagindo com Cascão, a primeira que eu vi na banca. A estória com o superheroi é bastante básica, mas a execução é interessante. A participação do menino é algo que faz sentido, o herói não tem suas capacidades realmente diminuídas, e pareceu uma estória que poderia ser da era de Snapper Carr (o garoto que entrou para a liga da justiça por poder estalar os dedos sempre que quisesse), Batman Zebra ou Superhomem lançando miniaturas de si mesmo. Divertida, sem medo de não ser realista.
Flash e Magali, por outro lado, tem uma estória mais forçada, mais confusa, e mal desenvolvida, além de uma oportunidade perdida bem óbvia. O começo é bom, comparando a fome dos dois, usando a capacidade dele de volta no tempo, e mostrando Xaveco brincando de Batman no fundo e se ferrando. Até a escolha da vilã e da premissa são boas, com a mulher gato usando os gatos para cometer crimes. Mas, depois de tudo pronto, temos um "twist" de shyamalan que não vale absolutamente nada. Além disso, este twist poderia ser ao menos fundamentado usando algo parecido com o Xaveco. Aquele personagem que vai surgir para terminar a estória poderia ter aparecido sutilmente antes. Mas, não aparece. É só "Ei, você não sabia, mas foi isso que aconteceu!" Dá a impressão que aconteceu mais coisa entre os quadros do que neles.
A estória do Chico Bento, por sua vez, tem um dos melhores momentos dentre as estórias. Infelizmente, ela começa com a capa já mencionada, apresenta Superhomem e Mulher Maravilha juntos, sugerindo que são um casal -Sim, eu sei que não gosto disso mais por me lembrar dos novos 52. O que está ocorrendo é óbvio, mas a execução em si é boa. De fato, quando Chico dá sua maior contribuição, ela parece genuína, tanto pelos heróis poderem se sentir forçados a fazer o que fariam, quanto por ele sugerir um princípio muito válido para ambos os heróis e para uma audiência infantil. E, eles executam uma velha piada sobre o superhomem de forma boa no final.
Lanterna Verde e Mulher Maravilha aparecendo no Limoeiro foi um tanto fraca, na minha opinião. A premissa é mais forçada que a maioria, colocada desde o começo e isso a torna ainda mais desinteressante; Lanterna se porta de forma pouco característica, a não ser que essa estória se passe enquanto ele estava infectado; e a desculpa para porque os heróis ficaram impotentes é também forçada. Ainda assim, eu não diria ser pior que Flash e Magali, já que eu gostei de como as crianças reagem aos heróis serem incapacitados, e não é tão ruim quanto alguns momentos da Turma da Mônica que me levaram a não ler regularmente.
A Turma interagindo com a Liga é, entretanto, uma estória que todo brasileiro interessado no universo DC devem ler. É uma estória que se vale de todo tipo de peculiaridade de roteiro que poderia ser um problema, como usar explicações fora da estória, piadas que não funcionam com o resto do que está acontecendo, etc... Mas, eu não consigo pensar em nenhum momento lendo em que eu achasse elas um problema. Eu mais de uma vez repeti "por que eu estou gostando disso?" enquanto via claramente o problema que esse tipo de coisa poderia causar, mas não vendo problemas. A resposta é, simplesmente, que quem escreveu sabe o que está fazendo. Se não chega a ser tão boa em algum momento quanto o melhor momento de Chico Bento, ela é mais divertida ao longo da estória.
Vale notar, antes de terminar, que eu não estou falando sobre as demais estórias nas revistas (nenhuma das estórias é do tamanho da revista). Algumas são bobas, mas não irritantes; Outras são particularmente infantis, e eu não posso realmente julgá-las bem, já que não sou a audiência para elas; mas, algumas tem ótimos momentos.
Um em particular é a estória de papai noel da revista de Chico Bento, que não é revolucionária, mas é muito bem executada, incluindo um papai noel bem diferente do mais comum, que cabe MUITO melhor na situação. Outra, que merece toda atenção que possa ser dada, é "Insubstituível", que foi repassada um pouco nas redes sociais. Se você não leu, eu não vou estragar a estória. Mas, ela absolutamente vale a pena, assim como estas revistas. Mesmo as piores são uma curiosidade interessante, e as melhores merecem ser lidas por todos com qualquer interesse na Turma da Mônica, da DC, ou em quadrinhos em geral.

The year was already ending, I was thinkins of the videos for January, and, while relaxing in Araruama (in the Lake region of Rio), I see Aquaman on Sumdge's comic.
Yes, for number 44 of Mônica and Friends' comic books, characters from DC participated in the Limoeiro gang's stories.
And, the first thing I must say is that the script id good,... For Monica's Gang. Some stories, in the past, made me think these comics rellied a bit too much on their readers being kids and not knowing much of the world... Ironically, almost always making references as if expecting the readers to know them. I don't know, it's kinda weird. But, on these comics, the scripts are from reasonable to great.
There are still some confusing moments. For instance, the cover of Chuck Billy's comic showing Clark Kent making the Batman: The Dark Knight Returns pose, in which he is essentially a villain. But, with a chicken instead of an eagle... So, the intention is saying he continues to be the same symbol even being on the countryside? Probably, but he still was a villain in that story. He was the guy that wasn't following his principles to do what the government wanted agains tthe man who managed to mantain his city despite the caos that destroyed most of them.
But, despite these details, the comic books are a lot of fun. Let's start with Aquaman interacting with Smudge, the first one I saw on the stand. The story with the superhero is pretty basic, but the execution is interesting. The boy's part is something that makes sense, the hero doesn't really have his skills diminished, and it felt like a story that could've been from the Snapper Carr era (the boy who got into the Justice League because he could snap his fingers whenever he wanted), Zebra Batman or Superman shooting a miniature version of himself. Fun, without being afraid of not being realistic.
Flash and Maggy, on the other hand, has a story which is more forced, more confusing, and poorly developed, besides a pretty obvious missed oportunity. the beginning is good, comparing the two's hunger, using his time travel skill, and showing Sunny playing as batman in the background and getting screwed. Even the choice of villain and the premise are good, with Cat Woman using cats to commit crimes. But, after it's all done with, we have a shyamalan "twist" that's not worth a thing. On top of that, that twist could've at least been substantiated using something like Sunny's participation. that character that's about to show up to finish the story could've shown up subtly before. But, he doesn't. It's just "Hey, you didn't know, but that's what happened!" It gives me the impression that more things were going on between the panels than on them.
Chuck Billy's story, in turn, has one of the best moments among the stories. Unfortunately, it starts with the aforementioned cover, presents Superman and Wonder Woman together, suggesting they're a couple -Yes, I know that I don't like that in particular for reminding me of the new 52. What's happening is obvious,but the execution itself is good. In fact, when Chuck Billy has his biggest contribution, it feels genuine, both for the heroes and the child audience. And, they make an old joke about Superman well in the end.
Green Lantern and Wonder Woman showing up in Limoeiro was somewhat weak, in my opinion. the premise is more forced than most, presented from the beginning and that makes it even more uninteresting; Lantern behaves uncharacteristically, unless this story is from while he was infected; and the excuse for why the heroes are made powerless is also forced. Still, I wouldn't say it is worse than Flash and Maggy's, since I enjoyed how the children reacted to the heroes being incapacited, and it isn't as bad as some Monica's Gang's moments that lead me to not read regularly.
The Gang interacting with the League is, however, a story that every Brazilian interested in the DC universe must read. It's a story that makes use of every kind of script quirk that could be a problem, like using explanations outside of the story, joke that doin't work with the rest of what's happening, etc... But, I can't think of any moment reading in which I found them a problem. I mroe than once repeated "why am I enjoying this?" while saw clearly the problem this kind of thing could cause, but not seeing problems. The answer is, simply, who wrote it knows what they're doing. It's not as good in any moment as the best moment of Chuck Billy's, she is more fun along the story.
It's worth noticing, before I finish, that I'm not talking about the rest of the stories in the comics (none of the stories is a whole comic). Some are silly, but not irritating. Others are particulaly childish, and I can't really judge them well, since I'm not in the intended audience; but, some have great moments.
One in particular is the Santa story on Chuck Billy's, which is not revolutionary, but very well executed, including a Santa quite different from what's expected, which fits MUCH better in the situation. Another, which deserves every attention that can be given, is "Insubstituível" (or Irreplaceable), which was passed around a bit on social media. If you haven't read it, I'm not going to ruin it. But, it's absolutely worth it, as well as these comics. Even the worst ones are an interesting curiosity, and the best ones deserve to be read by all with any interest in Monica's Gang, DC, or Comics in general.
