Quanto ao Contexto
Primeiramente, eu admito: a opinião que eu tenho destas duas revistas pode ser simplesmente pelo contexto em que eu as li.
Eu não sou um fã da personagem desde o fim de BTAS ou acompanhava estórias com ela antes do renascimento; Eu não sou fã da versão dela recriada para o filme do Esquadrão Suicida (que parece ter influenciado esta versão imesamente);
E eu também não sou fã da grande maioria das estórias de zumbis. Para mim, a maior atração e possível motivo para ver The Walking Dead (não, eu nunca vi) é terem me dito que zumbis são só o contexto e o drama vem dos sobreviventes.
A Excessivamente Estúpida Estória
1 revista e meia destas é uma estória (originalmente publicada em Harley Quinn 1, 2 3 e 4) sem a menor ideia do que "engraçado" quer dizer, confundindo "impacto" com "ser interessante." O shock value destrói qualquer chance dos personagens serem interessantes ou as piadas feitas ganharem o leitor.
Basicamente? Arlequina nestas estórias é o personagem chato que acham que será adorável por a) se vestir pouco e b) "fazer coisas que outros não fariam." Bota mais aspas nisso. Bastante aspas mesmo. Umas dessas coisas é flertar pesado com Hera Venenosa, algo que ela trata como só mais uma de suas excentricidades -Pq lesbianismo é insano, como o fato delas terem sido mostradas na série que criou a personagem como amigas que já moraram juntas seria, a não ser que elas trepem! -Ah, e porque as pessoas ainda gostam de fingir que sexualidade é sensualidade. Ela também usa expressões a la Robin de Burt Ward... Várias vezes... Sem nenhum impacto em nenhuma delas. É só uma piada solta repetida inúmeras vezes.
Isso está na estória pelo mesmo motivo que as caras de Batman e o Coringa estão na capa da primeira revista: não é relevante (eles não fazem parte da estória), mas jogam o que puderem desesperadamente para que você goste desta revista. Não funcionou comigo...
A estória começa com Hera Venenosa indo embora depois de passar um tempo com Arlequina e uma recontagem da estória dela nesta versão -que já me foi tediosa -Contada por ela como se fosse um show em Coney Island, com parceiros-mirins demais (essa foi a tradução que achei para sidekick... É estúpido demais para não mencionar, mas ainda mais engraçado que a maioria das piadas da estória estúpida).
O único que vai ser ligeiramente divertido é Red Tool, paródia de Deadpool -Que já era uma paródia do Exterminador (Slade Wilson, para vocês que o viram em Teen Titans e sabem quão genérico o nome dele é, também em Inglês -em que ele é Deathstroke, ou golpe mortal -mas, especialmente em Português). Ele é relativamente ativo na estória e não é um pé no saco pra se ler, então ele me parece bom.
...E é curioso ver a DC criando uma extensão dos balões de fala amarelos como piada de forma boa (eles são em forma de ferramentas, algo que certamente não foi desenvolvido nestas revistas, por isso tem chance de ser bem feito), ao mesmo tempo que tem que dizer que o mundo não sabe quem ele é para tentar cutucar a Marvel... Enquanto fazendo uma piada a la Deadpool que realmente funciona no hospital -A única que eu diria boa sem ter de qualificar.
Fora ele -interessante de uma forma, a seu jeito, meta -Infelizmente, estas revistas são só um acúmulo de "isso vai ser foda" gritado de novo e de novo enquanto jogam todo clichê que conseguiram, o que me indica que, mais uma vez, o problema aqui é a cópia. Exatamente como Superman V Batman e Esquadrão Suicida: fizerem o que acharam que era "automaticamente bom", em vez de desenvolver algo que poderia ser por si só.
A estória se resume a um alien chegando na terra e achando que vacas são a espécie dominante -Porque se South Park fez, é automaticamente bom -E se disfarçando de vaca em uma imagem realmente engraçada que me deixou esperançoso... E AÍ, ELE VIRA SALSICHA -E não, você não pode fingir que isso não é sanguinolento. "Alien" não exclui "personagem." E eles ainda vão tentar fazer isso de novo mais tarde.
Comer as salsichas zombifica a população e... -BLEEeeeeeeer... POR QUE DIABOS COMER SERES PENSANTES PASSA PELA CABEÇA DE AUTORES E ELES NÃO SENTEM NOJO!?!?!?! -e leva o grupo a buscar abrigo, Red Tool, entretanto, é mordido, e tem seU BRAÇO CORTADO FORA PELA PERSONAGEM PRINCIPAL...? - 0_0 Como diabos vocês querem que eu goste dessa personagem? 0_0 -E não, não é para salvá-lo. E então ela o lança com uma catapulta no telhado para um hospital -Algo que poderia ser uma piada samurai-pizza-caticamente interessante... Algo insano para a maioria, mas que personagens provavelmente poderiam usar em sua normalidade RUBY, mas que tem que vir logo depois o braço cortado, e ainda é seguido com comentários sobre a vítima perder a consciência, um hospital sendo metralhado para que ele passe pela janela -O que poderia também ser engraçado, se o susto e o corpo caindo fossem a piada, mas antes a palhaça tem que metralhar três andares do prédio -E, claro, todos aceitando que isso é só "mais uma excentricidade" do horrível inseto que entrou na pele de Harley Quinn e finge ser ela há tanto tempo.
Sim, eu sei. Ela é Lollypop Chainsaw metade das vezes... -E daí? Eu não estou jogando. Pássaros atacam a la Birdemic... -É só uma referência, que é tão ambígua que talvez tenham pensado em Hitchcock mais que Nguyen. E algumas imagens realmente poderiam ser usada com bom resultado, como Red Tool voando pelo ar ou Harley Queen sobre um cavalo morto-vivo, praticamente dizendo que ela é um dos quatro cavaleiros do apocalipse -Mas, sem asas de metal ou qualquer importância para o resto da estória.
A única outra coisa realmente interessante na primeira revista foi a chegada de Hera Venenosa, e mesmo assim me parece que poderia ser muito melhor se não fosse um deus ex machina para salvar Arlequina e tentar criar expectativas para a próxima parte na segunda revista. Ah, e ela usa um cortador de grama como arma, então... Peter Jackson, talvez?
A última parte é mais do mesmo, a única parte boa sendo a piada anteriormente mencionada, mas também inclui uma sala de portas para estórias futuras e mais um deus ex machina na forma dos pais do alienígena dizendo que podem curá-lo retirando seus pedaços dos zumbis, o que tambem acaba com a crise.
0_0 Suspiro... Por que ele estar vivo seria melhor, autores? Você literalmente diz que este ser foi mutilado, passou por centenas de sistemas digestivos, E ESTAVA CONSCIENTE ESSE TEMPO TODO!? Mesmo se seu leitor pensa que a morte poderia ser algo menor para esta espécie, você aponta para ele poder compreender enquanto está em pedaços!? Eu tenho medo de um dia estar na mesma sala que Amanda Conner e Jimmy Palmiotti. Eles devem achar que Jogos Mortais é uma comédia.
O Filler Ferrado e a Catastrófica Conclusão sobre a dC
Finalmente, a última metade de revista, os dois a mostram mais boba, trazendo piadas de pessoas morrendo -Ou talvez operadores de telemarketing não sejam pessoas... Ao menos, quando estão dando um golpe em velhinhos... Pelo menos, são vilões... Tá, essa parte não é tão ruim. Eu até gosto da piada de diálogo repetido exatamente igual por todos eles.
...Arlequina fazendo crianças vomitar em Coney Island -Não querendo dar desculpas, mas não quero que achem que a segunda estória é tão ruim quanto a primeira, além de vômito em parques de diversão existir. No mínimo, é mais acreditável como excentricidade que decepar um braço de um amigo. -E uma luta contra um robô gigante pilotado por um bebê -Vamos todos dar um momento de silêncio para o bebê de Captain Commando, que conseguira ser um conceito criativo e instigante que interessaria qualquer um assim que é visto... Até agora. Agora, infelizmente, podem haver os que deixam de lado e dizem "ah, é aquela piada da revista da Arlequina..."
E -Eu eu sei que estou negando as escolhas de autores que não me leem para uma estória antiga traduzida, mas ainda vale notar -NÃO, VOCÊS NÃO PODEM DIZER QUE É PARA SALVAR VELHINHOS E ESPERAR QUE TUDO SEJA AUTOMATICAMENTE POSITIVO. É LITERALMENTE UMA CRÍTICA FEITA CONTRA ATITUDES DE POLÍTICOS HÁ ANOS!!!
Por fim, algo me ocorre, agora que estou terminando este longo texto... É o pessoal que ainda shipa Arlequina com Coringa, né? Vocês ouviram o bando de imbecis que não entenderam "Mad love" e ainda dizem que o Coringa ama a Arlequina e é só, mais uma vez, excêntrico... POR QUE DIABOS A DC OUVE MAIS GENTE QUE NÃO SABE O QUE É SADIO DO QUE OS CRIADORES??

About the Context
Firstly, I admit it: the opinion I have of these comics could simply be due to the context in which I read them.
I haven't been a fan of the character since the end of BTAS or followed stories with her before Rebirth: I'm not a fan of her version recreated for the Suicide Squad movie (which seems to have influenced this version immensely);
And I'm also not a fan of the majority of zombie stories. To me, the biggest attraction and possible reason to see The Walking Dead (No, I haven't seen it) is being told the zombies are just the context and the drama comes from the survivors.
The Excessively Stupid Story
A comic and a half of these are a story (originally published in Harley Quinn 1, 2 3 e 4) without any idea of what "funny" means, confusing "impactful" with "being interesting." The shock value destroys any chance of the characters being interesting or the jokes made winning the reader over.
Basically? Harley Quinn in these stories is an annoying character they think will be adorable for a) barely dressing and b) "doing things others wouldn't." Add some quotes to that. A really big bunch of quotes. One of those is heavily flirting with Poison Ivy, something she considers to be just another of her eccentricities -Because lesbianism is insane, just like the fact they have been shown in the series that created the character as friends who've lived together would be, unless they screw! -Oh, and because people still like pretending sexuality is sensuality. she also uses expressions a la Burt Ward's Robin... Repeatedly... Without any impact in any of them. It's just a loose joke repeated countless times.
It's in the story for the same reason Batman and the Joker's faces are on the cover of the first book: it's not relevant (they're not part of the story), but they throw whatever they can desperately trying to get you to like the book. It didn't work with me...
The story starts with Poison Ivy going away after spending time with Harley Quinn and a retelling of her story in this version -which I found tedious already -Told by her as a show in Coney Island, with way too many minor-partners (that's the translation I found for sidekick... It's too stupid not to mention, but still funnier than most of the jokes in the stupid story).
The only one that's going to be mildly amusing is Red Tool, parody of Deadpool -Which was a parody of Deathstroke (Slade Wilson, to those who've seen him in Teen Titans and know how generic his name is, in English too, but specially in Portuguese, in which he is the exterminator -Yes, it's the very same word for a bug killer). He is relatively active in the story and not a pain to read, so he seems good.
...And it's curious seeing DC making an extension of the yellow speech bubbles as a joke in a good way *they're tool-shaped, certainly not developed in these books, so it has a chance to be well-done), at the same time they have to say people doesn't know who the is to try to poke Marvel... While making a Deadpool-style joke that actually works in the hospital -The only one I'd call good without having to qualify it.
Outside of him -interesting in his own meta way -Unfortunately, these books are just a gathering of "this will be awesome" scrreamed again and again while they throw every other cliche they can, which tell me that, once again, the problem here is copying. Just like in Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad: they did what they thought was "automatically good", instead of developing something that could stand by itself.
The story boils down to an alien coming to Earth and thinking cows are the dominant species -Because if South park did it, it's automatically good -And disguising himself as a cow in a really funny image that got my hopes up... AND THEN, HE'S SAUSAGE -And no, you can't pretend that isn't bloody. "Alien" doesn't exclude "character." And they'll try to do that again later.
Eating the hot dogs zombifies the population and... - HUUUURrrrrlll... WHY IN THE HELL DOES EATING THINKING BEINGS
GOES THROUGH AUTHORS MINDS AND THEY DON'T FEEL NAUSEAOUS!?!?!?! -and leads the group to seek shelter. Red Tool, however, is bitten and haS HIS ARM CHOP OFF BY THE MAIN CHARACTER...? - 0_0 How the hell do you wan tme to like this character? 0_0 -And no, it's not to save him. She then launches him with a catapult from the roof into a hospital -Something that could've been samurai-pizza-cattly interesting... Something insane for most, but that the characters could probably use in their RUBY normalcy, but that has to come right after the arm being chopped-off, and is still followed by comments about the victim loosing conciousness, a hospital being gunned down so he can go through the window -Which could also be funny, if the scare and the body fallng were the joke, but the clown has to shoot three of the building's floors -And, of course, everyone taking this as just "another eccentricity" from the horrible bug that's got into Harley Quinn's skin and has pretended to be her for so long.
Yes, I know. She's Lollypop Chainsaw half the times... -So what? I'm not playing it. Birds attack a la Birdemic... -It's just a reference, which is so ambiguous that they might've thought of Hitchcock more than Nguyen. And some images really could've been used well, like Red tool flying through the air or Haley Quiin on an undead horse, practically saying she's one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse -But, with no metal wings or any importance to the rest of the story.
The only other really interesting thing in the first book is Poison Ivy's arrival, and even that, seems to me, could be better if it wasn't a deus ex machina to save Harly Quinn and try to raise expectations for the next part in the second book. Oh, and she uses a weed whacker as her weapon, so... Peter Jackson, maybe?
The last part is more of the same, the only good thing being the previously mentioned joke, but it also includes a room of doors for future stories and another deus ex machina in the alien's parents saying they can cure him removing all his pieces from the zombies, which also ends the crisis.
0_0 sigh... Why would him being alive be better, authors? You literally say this being was mutilated, went through hundreds of digestive systems, AND WAS CONCIOUS FOR ALL OF IT!? even if your reader thinks that death could be something minor to this species, you point out they can understand while in pieces!? I'm afraid of on day being in the same room as Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti. They must think Saw is a comedy.
The Freaking Filler and the Catastrofic Conclusion about dC
Finally, in the last half a book, the two show her sillier, bringing jokes about people being killed -Or maybe telemartketing operators aren't people... At least, when they are conning old people... At least, they're villains... Ok, this part isn't that bad. I even like the joke of them repeating dialogue exactly the same way.
...Harley Quinn making kids vomit in Coney Island -I don't want to make excuses, but I don't want people to think the second story is as bad as the first, besides throwing up in amusement parks beign a thing. at least, is more believable as an eccentricity than chopping off a friend's arm. -and a fight against a giant robot piloted by a baby -Let's all take a moment of silence for the baby in Captain Commando, who's been able to be a creative and riveting concept that would interest anyone as soon as it's seen... Until now. Now, unfortunately, there might be those who leave it aside saying "oh, it's that joke from the Harley Quinn comic..."
And -And I know I'm saying not to the choices of authors that don't read me for an old story translated, but it's still worth mentioning -NO, YOU CANNOT SAY THAT IT FOR OLD PEOPLE AND EXPECT EVERYTHING TO AUTOMATICALLY BE POSITIVE. IT'S LITERALLY A CRITICISM USED AGAINST POLITICIANS FOR YEARS!!!
To finish, it occurs to me, now that I'm finalizing this long text... It's the people who still ship harley Quinn and the Joker, isn't it? You hear the bunch of morons that didn't understand "Mad Love! and still say the Joker loves Harley Quinn and is just, once again, eccentric... WHY THE HELL DOES DC PAY ATTENTION MORE TO PEOPLE WHO DON'T KNOW WHAT'S HEALTHY THAN THE CREATORS??
